SEOUL, KOREA- GM Korea announced on October 29 that its cumulative production of city car Chevrolet Spark passed the 1-million mark in four years after production began.The Spark, developed mainly by GM Korea, has been produced at Changwon plant. As Chevrolet’s flagship global small car model, the Spark has been sold well in and outside Korea.
Since the first Spark was out on the assembly line in 2009, 1,013,930 Sparks have been produced until the end of September 2013. Of the total, 687,755 were produced as complete cars, while 326,175 were assembled at GM’s overseas factories in India and Uzbekistan on a CKD basis.
During the period from January to September 2013, the domestic sales of the Spark stood at 44,478 units, down 8.4 percent from a year ago.
