SEOUL, KOREA- The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transportation announced on October 30 that it ordered recalls of Genesis, made by Hyundai Motor, due to brake malfunction caused by corrosion of ABS modulators. ABS is a device that prevents the wheel from staying locked when the brake is stepped on.According to the ministry, the brake oil that flows into the modulator of the Hyundai Genesis has a chemical reaction with steel plate, possibly causing a corrosion problem.

The number of Hyundai Genesis subject to the recall is 103,214 shipped from December 2007 to March 2012. The owners of the car concerned can get free repair service at Hyundai Motor’s service centers from October 31.

The ministry also ordered recalls for 5,557 cars imported and sold by BMW Korea. The cars subject to the recall are the ones produced during the period from October 2011 to August 2012. They turned out to have defects in electronic module programs that control windshield wipers, locking device, and indoor lights.
