The copyright holder and producer for this animation is SK C&C, which has set up a broadcasting contract with Tooniverse. Tooniverse is the number one domestic animation cable channel in Korea, so viewers will be able to watch Rara's Star Diary through cable TV too starting this summer.
The cartoon is said to be so popular because it contains candid content about an entertainer's life, which is the most popular dream of children these days. This is much different from existing cartoon offerings for girls which are focused on magic, fantasies, and action.
The cartoon is spawning diverse online and offline marketing with over 20 different character products are being launched from March including cards, toys, and stationary.
The cartoon, Rara's Star Diary, is broadcast on KBS 1TV at 8:00am every Saturday morning.
