SEOUL, KOREA - Gamevil reported a negative year-on-year growth of 65 percent in operating profit in the third quarter of this year, despite successful results in overseas markets. The company announced on November 11 that it recorded sales of 21 billion won and an operating profit of 1.9 billion won for the third quarter.
Sales grew by 26 percent year on year but operating profit fell by 65 percent. The decline in operating profit is blamed mainly on an increase in royalty payments and the cost to secure high-caliber talents.
Overseas sales, however, marked a robust growth. Gamevil saw its overseas sales reach an all-time high at 12.2 billion won, more than two-fold jump from a year ago. Gamevil’s sales in the Chinese market, in particular, showed a robust growth of 46 percent compared to a quarter ago, primarily led by the growth of its RPG sales.
