SEOUL, KOREA - SK Communications announced on November 8 that it posted sales of 31.8 billion won and operating loss of 9.2 billion won for the third quarter of this year. It also recorded a net loss of 7.6 billion won during the same period.
SK Communications remained in the red amid sluggish overall sales. Its third-quarter sales were down 11.1 percent compared to a quarter ago and 35.5 percent year on year. Its operating loss, however, narrowed compared to 11.8 billion won a year ago.
An SK Communications official said, “We are working on initiatives to restructure our business portfolios, as well as to build a foundation for the growth of mobile-based new businesses.”
In its existing business areas, SK Communications aims to improve its financial performance by adopting a select and focus strategy centering on portals. SK Communications also plans to concentrate its companywide capabilities in establishing new growth engines centering on mobile-based new services.
