Samsung Electronics to Accelerate Its Forays into Medical Devices

SEOUL, KOREA - Samsung Electronics has set out to move into the healthcare business by participating in the Medica trade show to be held in Dusseldorf, Germany, for four days between November 20 and 23.

The company recently announced that it would nurture business offerings related to healthcare such as mobile healthcare as its future growth engines. Medica is one of the world's largest expositions for the medical industry, with more than 4,000 exhibitors and 130,000 visitors.

In the upcoming show, Samsung will unveil a total of 13 medical devices including the digital X-ray machine, ultrasound diagnostic imaging equipment, and in-vitro diagnostics device. The company will set up separate booths for ob-gyn, field diagnosis, and circulatory medicine.
 
In addition to Medica, the company will also take part in the Radiological Society of North America 2013 to be held in Chicago from December 1. In this event Samsung will present 20 different devices including the digital X-ray equipment to be launched next year and the portable CT scanner.
 
A Samsung Electronics official said, "We plan to participate in major international medical exhibitions by raising brand awareness on our products. We will be No. 1 in medical devices just like we are in other electronic areas."
