SEOUL, KOREA - Korean Airlines, Korea's top passenger airliner, said on November 25 that it has broken ground to build a flight training center near Incheon International Airport.

The 8,660-square-meter flight simulator training center to be jointly operated with Boeing, according to the company, is in response to a rising demand for high-caliber pilots in the future.

The company also said that as many as 3,500 pilots can get training each year at the center that will be equipped with eight full flight simulators by 2015. The center will purchase additional four flight simulators subsequently. The two companies will invest up to 150 billion won for the training center.

Cho Yang-ho, Hanjin Group chairman, said in celebratory remarks, "At this training center, we will produce thousands of top-notch pilots. We will do our best to make Yeongjong Island the world's capital of the aerospace industry."
