SEOUL, KOREA - POSCO Engineering & Construction said on December 1 that it won a US$48.7-million project to build Section No. 5 of the Ho Chi Minh City-Dau Giay Expressway commissioned by Vietnam Expressway Corp.
The signing ceremony was held at the headquarters building of the Expressway Corporation, with the company's chairman Tran Quoc Viet, president Mai Tuan Anh, Asian Development Bank senior transport specialist Yasushi Tanaka, and POSCO E&C Southeast Asia division head Park Shi-sung in attendance.
The 51-kilometer expressway connecting Ho Chi Minh City wtih Dau Giay in Dong Nai Province will be built in six different sections. Section No. 5 whose construction project POSCO E&C took on spans 13.9 kilometers and will take 24 months to build.
The Korean contractor is currently working on five road construction projects in Vietnam including Sections Nos. 1 to 3 of the Noi Bai-Lao Cai Highway and the Vinh Phuc-Me Linh road. The company entered the Vietnamese construction market in 1995.
