SEOUL, KOREA - SK Hynix announced on November 28 that it established the Storage Media Solutions Center at KAIST as part of efforts to strengthen the product competitiveness of NAND flash memories.
Through the Storage Media Solutions Center, SK Hynix and KAIST will engage in joint development of technologies that can be applied for Solid State Drive (SSD) and eMMC that are now replacing hard discs.
In addition, the two parties will also join forces to cultivate high-quality R&D talents in semiconductor areas, including NAND. SK Hynix expects its cooperation with KAIST’s high-caliber R&D talents to contribute to improving the NAND solution technology level.
SK Hynix formed an industry-academy cooperative agreement with KAIST in 1995 and, thereafter, has worked with the university in cultivation of semiconductor talents. They expanded the scope of cooperation toward the software area from this year.
