SEOUL, KOREA - Korea Western Power Co. said on December 4 that it signed an operations and maintenance agreement on the 3rd for two "Sumsel 5" 150-megawatt coal-fired power plants in Indonesia.

Construction on the Sumsel 5 power plants, located in the province of Jambi, Sumatra, began in May this year. The first power plant is scheduled for commercial run in April 2015 while the second one in October in the same year.

Korea Western Power will set to work on operating the plants for seven years and two months from October next year to November 2021. The company expects to earn a total of 53.5 billion won from the contract by dispatching 12 maintenance staff.

A Korea Western Power official said, "We will cement our reputation as one of the best operators of power plants by signing similar contracts with developing country power plants."
