SEOUL, KOREA - Korea’stop-three outdoor apparel makers are forecast to pass the 2-trillion-won mark in combined sales this year, first in history. Black Yak is expected to join the top-three rank, overtaking K2.
According to industry sources on December 23, The North Face is likely to achieve more than 700-billion-won sales this year, maintaining its top spot for ten straight years.The North Face explained that its overall sales marked a sharp growth compared to last year’s 645 billion won thanks to an increase in sales of down jackets, caused by earlier-than-expected winter season.
Kolon Sports expected its 2013 sales to grow by more than 10 percent year-on-year to 680 billion won.
BlackYak is likely to post sales of 670 billion won this year, ranking No. 3 among outdoor apparel makers, overtaking last year’s No. 3 player K2 (655 billion won).
