SEOUL, KOREA - The number of import cars purchased by young consumers in their age between 20 and30 is showing a downward trend.
According to the Korea Automobile Importers and Distributors Association, among last month’s import car sales of 13,853 units, the young people in 20s accounted for 838, down 2.4 percent from a year ago.
The number of import cars purchased by the young consumers marked a negative year-on-year growth of 2.8 percent in August, first in 44 months since January 2010. The declining rate increased to 11.1 percent in September but decreased to 4.5 percent in October.
During the 2009-2012 period when the import car market grew by 10 percent per year, the young consumers maintained the top spot in terms of the purchasing growth rate among the entire age groups.
