SEOUL, KOREA - SK Telecom excelled its rivals in the areas of LTE-A, LTE, 3G, and Wi-Fi areas,according to the government’s telecom service quality assessment.On December 30, 2013, the Ministry of Science, ICT, and Future Planning announced the results of its evaluation on the quality of telecom services for 2013.
The assessment included broadband LTE and LTE-A for the first time. Their service speed turned out to be faster than those of LTE but remain at one third of their theoretically maximum speed of 150Mbps.
The average download speed of the broadband LTE service stood at 56.6 Mbps, 1.8 times faster than LTE and 11 times faster than 3G. The upload speed averaged at 20.2 Mbps.
LTE-A has an average speed of 47.2 Mbps and an upload speed of 15.5 Mbps, slightlys lower than broadband LTE. In terms of download speed, SK Telecom came on top with 56.2 Mbps, followed by KT with 50.3 Mbps, and LG U+ with 43.1Mbps.
