SEOUL, KOREA -BIT Computer, a specialist in healthcare solutions, said on January 2 that it would build a healthcare information system for the Health Ministry and public health centers in Iraq. The 24-month, 274.3-million-won project also includes creating data communications links between the ministry and health centers.

The company will work with Korea International Cooperation Agency as part of an overseas development assistance project. The Iraqi Health Ministry expects that it will be able to improve the quality of its healthcare service delivery substantially while raising the reliability of medical statistics.

BIT Computer president Jeon Jin-ok said, "Following similar deals in Asia in 2013, we are proud that we could step into the Iraqi market for the first time." As the project will be implemented as part of a foreign assistance program, it will involve dispatching medical professionals and sending Iraqi healthcare workers to Korea for training purposes.

Earlier the company won contracts to export healthcare information solutions to countries like Thailand, Japan, the United States, Kazakhstan, and Mongolia.
