Q: Would you introduce the Incheon World City Expo Organizing Committee

A: It is a non-profit organization invested by Incheon Metropolitan City and supported by the Korean government. The executives and employees of the committee were dispatched from Incheon City and subsidiary organizations.

In addition, several former Korean government ministers have joined the committee, including Chairman Kang Dong-suk, a former minister of construction and transportation, and Honorary Chairman Oh Myung, a former deputy prime minister.

Along with the 2014 Asian Games, the World City Expo 2009 Incheon will become one of the most principle events that Incheon is preparing.

In preparation for Incheon's future role as a hub city in Northeast Asia, the committee will promote the Expo as a stepping stone toward increased communication and interaction among the cities around the world.

Q: Would you explain the theme and main attractions of the World City Expo 2009

A: With the goal of solving the challenges cities face through collaboration and to give a stage to the dreams of all cities we are hosting the World City Expo under the theme of "Cities with Dreams." The theme will be expressly demonstrated or explored by the displays of various elements of modern urban design and various conferences and forums.

Meanwhile, pavilions at the Exposition site will showcase participating companies, cities, and their projects.

In the view of the construction of a model for a high-tech city of the future, Incheon Free Economic Zone Authority plans to establish "U-City," an advanced digital city that connects people and the computer systems anytime anywhere.

Q: What are the economic effects that Incheon can get through the World City Expo 2009

A: Hosting the Expo will greatly contribute to introducing the city brand of Incheon to the world and helping the city enter the ranks of the world's top 10 cities in the near future.

It will also bring about foreign investment and consumption of foreign visitors in Korea, resulting in 2.8 trillion Won worth of economic effects, employment inducing effects for 40,000 people and value added causing effect worth 1.3 trillion Won.
