Slovak Constitution Day observed

The Embassy of the Slovak Republic in Seoul observed the country's Constitution Day reception on September 13 evening at the Hotel Shilla while Ms. Ha Sung-hee, Honorary Consul in Busan, was attending like annual year. Europe circle's envoys including Eastern Europe showed up in large numbers including France Ambassador Philippe Thiebaud and Portugese Ambassador Henrique Borges.

Brazil Independence Day feted

Brazil Ambassador Celina M. Assumpcao do Valle Pereira in Seoul feted the country's Independence Day on September 7 evening at the Hotel Shilla for the first time since her arrival as the top Brazil envoy. Ambassador Pereira is one of the five woman envoys in Seoul who promote their country including New Zealand Ambassador Jane Coombs. Singapore Ambassador Chua Thai Keong and Portugal Ambassador Henrique Borges remained till late to share Brazil Independence Day.

El Salvador Envoy bids farewell

5 Central South America countries' embassies in Seoul

including Honduras, El Salvador, Costa Rica etc. feted their Independence Day on September 14 at the Grand Hyatt Seoul with the sponsor from GLAMI Co., Ltd. That day's reception was also a venue for El Salvador Ambassador Alfredo F. Ungo, the dean of the Seoul diplomatic corps, to bid farewell to the Seoul diplomatic corps as well as his friends in Seoul.

Mexico Independence Day feted

To commemorate Mexico's Independence Day, The Embassy of Mexico held a feting reception on September 18 at the Hotel Shilla. El Salvador Ambassador Alfredo F. Ungo, the dean of the Seoul diplomatic corps., Russia Ambassador Gleb A. Ivashentsov, and Honduras Ambassador Rene Francisco Umana Chinchilla showed up among the Seoul diplomatic corps.

Successful transition from a colony of the Soviet empire to a viable, peaceful country

Despite of the eve evening of the Chuseok (Korean Thanksgiving Day) holidays, a number of Seoul envoys flocked at the Hotel Shilla on September 21 evening to congratulate Ukraine Independence Day. Ukraine Ambassador Yuril Y. Mushka said through his speech: "During the last 16 years, Ukraine has made a successful transition from a colony of the Soviet empire to a viable, and peaceful country."

The September 23rd Anniversary of the Unification of the Kingdom

On the occasion of the September 23rd Anniversary of the Unification of the Kingdom, the Royal Embassy of Saudi Arabia held a commemorating function on September 10 at the Hotel Shilla. On behalf of the government, Deputy Prime Minister Kim Shinil, Minister of Education & Human Resources Development, Republic of Korea was on hand and the Middle East circle envoys including Egypt Ambassador Reda El-Taify and Oman Ambassador Moosa Hamdan AL TAEE showed up among the Seoul diplomatic corps.

For the next 15 years as deeply as before

"15 years could be relatively short, but Korea and China made history during the short period of time accomplishing so much in every aspect of relationship."

The Embassy of the People's Republic of China feted the country's National Day on September 27 ahead of four days than its real National Day date Oct. 1. China envoy NING Fukui expressed bilateral ties that the two countries would continue the cooperation of the last 15 years for the next 15 years as deeply as before. Separately from the National Day reception, The Embassy of the People's Republic of China feted bilateral 15th anniversary of diplomatic ties in the evening on August 15 at the Lotte Hotel Seoul.

Each others' 10th largest trading partner: Korea and Singapore

The Embassy of the Republic of Singapore held a commemorating reception to congratulate its Independence Day on September 12 at the Grand Hyatt Seoul. Since the KSFTA entered into force on 2 March 2006, bilateral trade has increased by more than 10%. Both Singapore and Korea were each others' 10th largest trading partner in 2006 with total bilateral trade growing from S$28 billion (USD$19.5 billion, KRW 17 trillion) in 2005 to over S$31 billion (USD$20.5 billion, KRW19 trillion) in 2006, according to Singapore Ambassador Chua Thai Keong.

International music festival to commemorate Isang Yun birth 90th anniversary, a worldwide composer Korea bore is taking place till November 3rd in Seoul. Starting from its Festival opening concert held on September 16 at the Seoul Arts Center, this Isang Yun Music Festival includes a variety of music concerts such as Seoul Yun Isang Ensemble concert, TIMF Ensemble concert.
