SEOUL, KOREA - NHN Entertainment, which was inaugurated officially on August 1, 2013, released its fourth quarter results on February 13. The company saw its sales reach 163.8 billion won in the fourth quarter of last year, up 6.8 percent from a quarter ago, thanks to strong performance in both desktop computer online games and mobile games.
Its operating profit, however, fell to 26.8 billion won due to an increase in revenue-connected commissions resulting from the growing popularity of its existing desktop computer online games and mobile games, the increase in outsourcing commissions in support of game development, and the increase in promotional expenses.
By business type, its online games generated sales of 119.5 billion won during the September-December period of last year, up 4.5 percent from a quarter ago, despite a slight decline in sales of web board games and the sluggish computer online game performance in Japan. New online games such as Eos, Asta, and Football Day, contributed to increasing the overall sales.
The mobile game business also chalked up a 17.1-percent growth in sales to 37.3 billion won, thanks to robust growth of flagship games, including Pokopang for Kakao.
