Yoon Boo-Keun, CE division president at Samsung Electronics, said in the “Chef Collection Media Day” press conference, held on March 12 at Hotel Shilla in Seoul, “Samsung’s 2013 growth in the global refrigerator market was more than three times higher than the overall market growth. Samsung, accordingly, solidified its No. 1 spot in the global refrigerator market last year.”
On the same day, the company revealed a super-premium refrigerator “Chef Collection.” President Yoon said confidently, “We have no problem in maintaining our lead in the global refrigerator market this year.”
Samsung, in particular, is placing more focus on the premium home electronics market that has been growing at a rapid pace. The share of premium home appliances in overall home electronics sales has grown to about 40 percent last year, two times higher than the figure recorded in 2011.
