SEOUL, KOREA - Seagate Technology released the world’s first portable 4-TB external hard drive.Seagate held a press conference on March 13 in Seoulwhere it announced a plan to release its external hard drive “Backup Plus Fast” in the domestic market.
This product, if connected with a computer on a USB 3.0 interface, can read and write at the maximum speed of 220Mbps. Compared to the speed of general external hard drives which is estimated at around 100Mbps, this model achieved more than two times improvement in reading and writing speed.
Backup Plus Fast is a portable model, featuring a lightweight of 307 grams and a thickness of 22.35mm.
Seagate also showed off the Backup Plus Slim external hard drive with a capacity ranging from 500GB to 2TB. Compared to the Backup Plus Fast, this model is inferior in terms of speed and capacity but lighter (150-159 grams) and thinner (9.6-12.1 mm).
The retail price of the Backup Plus Fast is 399,000 won, while those of the Backup Plus Slim ranges from 79,000 won to 219,000 won.
