Issues were also discussed pertaining to the construction of smart IoT communication systems appropriate for an age of supernetworking, where all people and devices are interlinked. It is thought that solutions in this regard are urgently needed, especially as the amount of network users grows daily.

Experts have warned that policy makers will have to move fast if they are to meet the demands created by increasing data capacity needs of Internet and telecommunication providers and end-users. As more and more smart devices continue to hit the market, insiders claim that saturation and network bottlenecks could become major issues if these subjects are not addressed soon.

The Korea Institute of Information and Telecommunication Facilities Engineering opened the symposium with a panel discussion that centered on the topic of constructing a safe social network that could fight potential disasters. This was followed by 12 additional sessions, as well as a post-session discussion, all of which took place over the three days of the events course.

Oh Sung-mok, the Chairman of the Korea Institute of Information and Telecommunication Facilities Engineering, began the symposium with an opening speech. After this, Yang Seung-taek, Chairman of IST, and also the former minister of Ministry of Information and Communication, addressed the symposium. Choi Heung-jib, the former Chairman of Gangwon Land, also spoke at the event.

Of particular note was a special lecture given by Cho Sung-gab, the Chairman of the Korea Information Processing Society. The speech was entitled Information Communication of Material Intelligence, and was said to have had a great influence on many members of the audience.

Among the many other presentations were: EOC Platform at General Disaster Prevention Center and E-Disaster Control System, by Professor Park Hyung-joo of Gachun University, as well as The Propriety of the Construction of Safety Communication Network against Disaster Based on LTE and Possible Solutions, presented by assistant researcher Kim Sa-hyuk.

The topics of the 12 sessions were: Session 1 Information Telecommunication System by Cable Communication Facilities Session 2 Other Information Telecommunication Techniques Session 3 IT Combined Techniques Session 4 IT Combined Techniques by Wireless Communication Facilities Session 5 IT Combined Techniques Session 6 Application of Control Systems Session 7 Information Telecommunication Policy Session 8 Wireless Communication Facilities Session 9 Other Information Telecommunication Techniques by Wireless Communication Facilities Session 10 Other Information Telecommunication Techniques by Wireless Communication Facilities Session 11 Other Information Telecommunication Techniques Session 12 Wireless Communication Facilities Post Session Combined IT Techniques.

This was a scientific symposium that saw over 200 industrial and academia-related parties attend, including some of Koreas leading information telecommunication luminaries, who made over 100 proposals.

The Korea Institute of Information and Telecommunication Facilities Engineering was founded in 2001, and contributes to the development of Koreas information telecommunication industry. It is grounded upon its mission to achieve the establishment of a fully-functioning theoretical system for technological solutions. It aims to achieve this through the research and development of the industrial and academic sectors of Korean information telecommunication equipment and available facilities.
