SEOUL, KOREA - The number of labor disputes has increased about 110 percent year on year during the January-August period of this year.
According to the Ministry of Employment and Labor on September 15, the number of labor disputes occurred during the first eight months of this year totaled 78, up 110.8 percent from a year ago.
The number of work loss days caused by the disputes stood at 265,000 days, a 2.8 percent increase year on year. The rate of wage settlement rate stood at 41.8 percent, slightly lower than that recorded a year before.
As many as 4,137 out of 9,905 workplaces which have more than 100 payrolls completed the wage negotiations. The wage increase rate stood at 4.5 percent, a 0.6 percentage point increase compared to 3.9 percent a year ago.
