SEOUL, KOREA - Seoul St. Mary's Hospital will establish a cancer center in Abu Dhabi and a health check-up center in Dubai, in addition to a check-up center in Abu Dhabi. Seung Ki-Bae, president of Seoul St. Mary's Hospital, said on October 21 in a press conference, "We signed an agreement with VPS Healthcare Group, a holding company for healthcare businesses in the United Arab Emirates, to establish a cancer treatment center in Abu Dhabi run directly by us." He also said his hospital will build a check-up center in Dubai jointly with VPS Healthcare Group.
He continued, "Once the plans are realized as scheduled, we would have two health check-up centers and a cancer center in the United Arab Emirates." The first health check-up center to be open in December this year at Marina Mall, Abu Dhabi, will focus on profit making. This is the first Korean-style health check-up center ever established in the Middle East.
Given the Abu Dhabi check-up center is expected to earn 100 billion won for the next five years, the Korean hospital will get 10 billion won in royalty income under the terms of the agreement that it would receive 10 percent of the sales revenue. Seoul St. Mary's Hospital will send 25 staff members including five medical doctors to Abu Dhabi.
