SEOUL, KOREA - Hyundai Motor and Kia Motors are expected to achieve record-high sales in China this year.According to industry sources on November 5, their combined sales in China grew 19.1 percent last month, the highest monthly growth in 2014.
Beijing Hyundai sold 92,455 units last month, up 15.5 percent from a year ago, while DongfengYueda Kia marked a 25.3-percent growth in sales to 57,037 units.
The combined monthly sales of the two South Korean carmakers stood at 149,492 units, up 19.1 percent from a year ago.This is the highest sales growth since June 2013 when their combined sales grew 36.2 percent.
By model, the Hyundai Avante MD was the best-selling model with sales of 22,821 units, followed by the Accent with 18,657 units, the K3 with 15,531 units, and the Pride with 12,805 units.
The robust sales pace is expected to continue for the time being as Hyundai is set to introduce a new SUV which shares platform with the ix25, within the first half of next year.
