As an enterprise that respects patents, Seoul Semiconductor (CEO Lee Jung Hoon, www.acriche.co.kr), a global company specializing in the production of LEDs, corrected its position on the supply of LED chips in the LED market this week. It was erroneously reported in the news on July 15 that "Seoul Semiconductor has been producing the packaging using chips from Hong Kong, such as Epistar, due to the limited manufacturing capacity of Seoul Opto Device."
While it has indeed seen a sharp rise in demand, Seoul semiconductor is currently producing its own chips. They have been internationally certified based on the 5000 patents granted to its own products as well as on those cross-licensed with some of the world's largest companies. It has also been purchasing chips from the Cree Company of the United States and the Toyota-Gosei (TG) Company of Japan. Seoul Semiconductor specified that it highly values the intellectual property rights of other corporations, and will continue fair trade with corporations that respect the rights, while taking necessary measures to maintain the rights to its patents.
