SEOUL, KOREA - Hyundai Motor and KiaMotors will expand their eco-friendly lineups up to more than 22 models by2020.The two Korean carmakers aim to join the rank of global top two in the eco-friendlyvehicle segment by establishing a full range of eco-friendly lineups rangingfrom compact cars to SUVs.
On November 12, HyundaiMotor and Kia Motors announced a blueprint regarding how to expand eco-friendlylineups by 2020.
In the globaleco-friendly vehicle market whose size is forecast to reach 6.4 million unitsin 2020 from this year’s 2.2 million, Hyundai Motor and Kia Motors setambitious goals to become one of the world’s top-two eco-friendly vehiclemakers.
At present, the twocarmakers are selling four hybrid car models, two electric cars and onehydrogen fuel car. By 2020, they plan to expand the scope of hybrid cars up to12 models ranging from compact cars to SUVs, while releasing a total of six newplug-in hybrid models. They will also develop two new electric car models, aswell as two new hydrogen fuel cars.
