To cope with the rising popularity of import cars, Korea’s major carmakers are set to release a variety of new cars in the coming year.
Hyundai Motor, for example, plans to release the 3G Tucson (TL) within the first half of next year. The company has completed all kinds of tests for the 3GTucson and is now reviewing about safety and convenience specs and prices.
Hyundai Motor also plans to roll out the new Avante in five years after releasing the 5G MD. The 6G Avante will feature Hyundai’s design philosophy of Fluidic Sculpture 2.0. The 6G Avante will come in a 1.6-liter GDi engine model, with diesel and hybrid models under review.
Kia Motors intends to release a variety of new models in the upcoming summer season, among others, the 2G K5 and the 4G Sportage R.
GM Korea will release a follow-up model (M400) of its compact sedan Spark which was released six years ago. The Spark accounts for about 40 percent in GM Korea’s domestic sales.
Ssangyong Motor is set to release the Tivoli on January 13. It is a small crossover SUV which features a large width of 179.5 centimeters and an ample storage space of 432 liters.
