Nongshim’s “Mt. Baekdu Baeksansu” ranked No. 2 in Korea’s mineral water market for the first time in its history.
Nongshim announced on December 30 that its mineral water brand “Mt. Baekdu Baeksansu” gained a share of 5.4 percent in the domestic mineral water market in November 2014, ranking No. 2 for the first time in history.
The brand, which ranked No. 5 at the beginning of this year, was the only mineral water brand among domestic ones which has increased its market share for nine straight months this year.After rising to No. 3 in July, “Mt. Baekdu Baeksansu”climbed up to No. 2 in just four months.
The No. 1 brand Jeju Samdasu saw its market share fall slightly to 44.9 percent from 46.3 percent early this year, while Icis 8.0 and Gangwon Pyeong changesu, which are rivals to Mt. Baekdu Baeksansu for the No. 2 spot,slipped to No. 3 and No. 4, respectively.
Baeksansu’s annual growth rate stood at 33 percent, far higher than the market’s average growth rate of 9.8 percent.
