Ssangyong Motor released its strategic SUV model Tivoli on January 13 and set its annual sales goal at 38,500 units, drawing attention from the public whether it can achieve the ambitious goal.
The Tivoli is set to compete with Renault Samsung’s QM3 and Chevrolet Trax. The QM3 was sold 18,191 units last year, two times higher than its sales target, while the Traxwas sold 10,368 units, up 28.6 percent from 8,064 units a year ago.The annual sales target for the Tivoli is higher than the combined sales of the two rival models.
Ssangyong Motor set such a high sales target for the Tivoli, based on its strength in price and design. Its price is lower than that of its rival models. It also has a trendy design, which could appeal to young consumers.
In the meantime, Ssangyong Motor sold 69,036 units in the domestic market last year, the highest since 2005 when its sales reached 75,532 units.
