YouTube continues to grow stably in Korea’s video sharing service market. Its dominant presence, however, is being challenged by the TV cast service launched by Korea’s largest online portal Naver which strengthened its video service starting from last year.
According to traffic analytics firm Korean Click on January 15, YouTube’s unique visitors number stood at 140.89 million last year in the Korean market, up 13.3 percent from a year ago.
Given that the combined UV of the top three players, consisting of YouTube, Daum TV Pot, and Naver TV Cast stood at 250.37 million last year, YouTube accounted for 56 percent of the total.
Daum TV Pot attracted 62.18 million UVs last year, showing a 3.2-percent growth year on year.Naver TV Cast achieved the most outstanding growth last year, with the number of its UVs estimated at 47.29 million last year, up 52.4 percent from a year ago.
