GM Korea announced on March 8 that it begins to take applications for the purchase of Chevrolet Spark EVs from the residents of Jeju Island. According to GM Korea, the purchase application is in line with the 2015 project to promote the spread of electric cars in the island.
The application will be received by March 20 at the Jeju International Convention Center where the second International Electric Car Expo will be held by GM Korea’s four agent shops.
GM Korea’s electric car Chevrolet Spark EV can be purchased at the price of 17.9 million won, since the central government and the Jeju municipal government provide a subsidy of 22 million won.
The Spark EV was released first in 2013 in the Korean market. Mounted with an LG Chemical’s new lithium-ion battery cell, it has a maximum output of 143 horsepower and a maximum torque of 48.2 kg.m.
It can run up to 136 kilometers per single charging. It takes 8.5 seconds to reach the speed of 100 kilometers per hour from a standstill.
