Korean Academy of Addiction Psychiatry (KAAP) invited UAE NRC to show the delegation Dasarang Centeral Hospital’s treatment system and medical facilities.
The delegation of UAE NRC toured major facilities like wards and a center of alcoholism treatment program with Ki Sun-wan, KAAP’s chief director.
They showed much interest in phased ward program consisted of ‘management-open-rehabilitation’ through which alcoholics can return to the society after receiving the treatment.
“There are 80 percent of foreigners in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, who can have easy access to liquors, so an increasing number of foreigners turn alcoholics,” said Hamad Al Ghaferi, UAE NRC’s head, “Therefore, it is necessary to have right alcoholism treatment in place.”
Cho Geun-ho, chief doctor of Dasarang Centeral Hospital said, “Despite the fact that UAE is very strict about alcohol because of its religion, there live a lot of foreign residents, making them deal with alcoholism. I think Korea should pay attention to alcoholism treatment for foreigners living in Korea as well.”
