Ambassadors’ Wives to Korea from 17 nations around the world visited The Hanmi Museum of Photography, Seoul which was run by the Hanmi Foundation (also known as Ga-Hyeon Foundation of Culture, www.photomuseum.or.kr).
On March 20, The Hanmi Museum of Photography, Seoul released that the Association of Spouses of Ambassadors in Korea visited the museum to watch the exhibition of Ara Güler with the title of The Eye of Istanbul, and they progressed an event to promote cultural exchanges and friendship among the nations on March 17.
The exhibition was organized by Pınar Okçal, Turkish ambassador’s wife to Korea, where Ara Güler, Turkish one of the world-renowned photographers displayed the history of Instabul from 1950s to 1980s.
The exhibition tour began with the introduction and explanation about Ara Güler by Seok Jae-hyun, planner of the exhibition, and those spouses of ambassadors to Korea gathered to exchange their opinions about cultures of each country.
“It is honored to have the VIPs around the world in place for the exhibition of Turkish photos,” said Song Young-suk, director of The Hanmi Museum of Photography, “I hope that this will become a chance to strengthen the mutual cooperation and friendship among the countries.”
Pınar Okçal, Turkish ambassador’s wife to Korea said, “I feel honored to invite spouses of ambassadors to Korea at the Ara Güler exhibition. I hope that people will remember Istanbul as a romantic place through his exhibition with the title of The Eye of Istanbul.”
There are seventeen countries which took part in the exhibition, including Dominica, Romania, Russia, Morocco, Belarus, Saudi Arabia, the Azerbaijani Republic, Algeria, Japan, Zambia, Georgia, Turkey, the Republic of Kazakhstan, Canada, Pakistan, Australia and Hungary in Korean alphabetical order.
Meanwhile, the Ara Güler exhibition will be opened until March, 28 in The Hanmi Museum of Photography on the 19th floor of Hami Pharmaceutical’s headquarter, Bangi-dong. Songpa, Seoul. There are about 100 photos displayed, of with forty were original vintage print which the photographer himself chose their prints and frames.
