Samsung Electronics announced on April 6 that it received the Sustained Excellence Award at the 2015 Energy Star Award organized by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. Samsung has become the first Korean company to win the EPA’s Sustained Excellence Award for three straight years.
This award is given based on the EPA’s evaluation of the environmental performance of the 20,000 municipal governments and agencies and companies who take part in the U.S. government’s Energy Star Program.
The award is recognized most highly in environment and energy areas. The Sustained Excellence award is given to those who make strenuous effort to develop energy-efficient products and promote energy-saving activities.
In the North American market, Samsung Electronics acquired the Energy Star certifications for a total of 711 models last year. Of the total, 84 models gained the highest energy efficiency grade. Since 2009, Samsung Electronics has carried out various environmental protection campaigns together with the EPA.
