Google opened its Campus Seoul to support local startups and entrepreneurs for the first time in the Asian region.
“The Campus London opened three years ago has helped London startups create 1,800 new jobs and attract more than 110 million dollars,” Mary Grove, chief of Google’s startup support team, told reporters at the press briefing on Friday. Karim Temsamani, chief of Google’s Asia Pacific region, was also present at the meeting.
“We are confident that the Campus Seoul will also see remarkable achievement,” she added.
Google said the campus would help local startups to jump into overseas markets, and female entrepreneurs better run their business. The firm also plans to help them share useful information and better communicate in a bid to learn from each other. Young entrepreneurs will also be provided with diverse training and mentoring programs.
“Seoul has a great human pool equipped with diverse startup ideas and technologies. We will back them to make successful cases in the global markets,” said Lim Jung-min, chief of Seoul Campus.
“It was not easy to find female mentors in the startup field in South Korea. I look forward to meeting more female entrepreneurs and mentors though this programs,” said female chief of a local startup, which is scheduled to join the program.
