Singer-actress IU confessed that she has created the character “Cindy”, referring to Hyuna of ‘4minute’ and Krystal of ‘f(x)’ as role models.
A press conference for KBS2 Friday-Saturday entertainment bureau drama [Producer] was held at The Raum located in Yeoksamdong, Seoul in the afternoon on the 11th.
At the venue, IU drew people’s attention by mentioning that her friends has been role models of inspiration for her role in the drama while describing “Cindy”.
“I think Krystal fits really comfortably in skinny jeans. I always talk to my coordinator how I could fit into skinny jeans like her. And I also try to copy Hyuna of ‘4minute’ or members of Girl’s generation. I just want to become like them, charismatic and looking very chic.”, she added.
However, “Cindy” reflects well on herself. “Cindy” is a singer who debuted at the age of 13 and has become the top singer, gaining huge popularity for 10 years. She realized too early that there is no free lunch since she entered a society when she was young. This has shaped the characteristic of her as an irritating person. But basically, she is not wicked, which renders the viewers unable to hate her.
IU and “Cindy” has similar experiences growing up. She debuted very young – at the age of 15 – and topped the chart. Then she saw the dark and bright sides of the society. IU said when she spits out lines to a manager irritatingly, she is often confused between fiction and reality.
“Cindy” is a part of me in everyday lives. Particularly, the scenes of me being irritable to a manager are very real indeed. My manager also said it gave him goose bumps.”, she said smiling. She added that “Cindy is arrogant and abrasive but these are not all of her characteristics. She reveals pure aspect of personality.”, asking people to pay attention to her personality change.
Meanwhile, [Producer] is the first ever entertainment-like-drama which is written by Park Ji-eun from [My Love From the Star] and a producer Seo Soo-min who directed [1 Day 2 Nights], [Gag Concert] and [Music Bank].
The drama portrays the real life of KBS entertainment department who works over time and pulls an all-nighter every day. There’s raised expectations toward the drama with its Hallyu stars studding casts including Cha Tae-yeon, Gong Hyo-jin, Kim Soo-hyun and IU. The drama premieres on May 15 at 9 pm and will be aired for six weeks with 12 episodes.
