Korean smartphone users spend far more time playing games on their devices than their European and North American counterparts, though less than the Japanese, according to a new report.
The report, released by mobile intelligence company App Anie, states that games now represent some 90 percent of app revenue in Korea and Japan. Statistics also showed that the average active Korean Android user logged onto gaming apps 200 times in the first three months of 2015, twice as much as the average American Android user, although Japanese users logged into game apps 300 times in the same period.
The report also showed that Koreans are top of the charts when it comes to mobile data usage, both in terms of WiFi data and network data, with the United States in second place.
Korean users also spent more than any other surveyed country in terms of combined Google Play and Apple’s App store purchases. App Annie stated, “With their extensive 4G LTE infrastructure, it was little surprise to see South Korea and Japan lead mobile and overall data usage in the first quarter of 2015.”
