CJ O Shopping, one of Korea’s leading home shopping channels, is making forays into Mexico’s home shopping market.
The company announced on May 26 that it will establish a joint venture Televisa CJ Grand with Televisa, the largest media group in Latin America, and launch a TV home shopping service in Mexico from next month.
This will be the first time among Korea’s retail companies to launch into Latin America’s home shopping market. The local channel will be named CJ Grand Shopping which will be aired for 24 hours a day for 11 million households in Mexico through Televisa’s cable TV and satellite channels.
CJ O Shopping will be responsible for home shopping programming, while Televisa will be in charge of local marketing, public relations, and channel management.
A company official said that as part of an effort to make forays into Mexico, it has conducted market surveys and worked on selecting a promising local partner in Mexico since 2013. Televisa, founded in 1950, is the largest media group in the Spanish-speaking world, and runs four terrestrial channels, cable TV and satellite services in Mexico.
