The global 4K TV panel market is forecast to grow more than 100 percent this year, with Korean companies likely to take more than 50 percent market share.
According to market research firm IHS Technology on May 29, the world’s 4K TV panel market size is expected to reach 40 million units this year, accounting for 15 percent in the total panel market. The 4K TV panel market is forecast to grow 108 percent this year compared to a year ago.
Korea’s panel makers, including Samsung Display and LG Display, will likely to occupy a 57-percent share in the global 4K TV panel market. Following them will be Taiwanese panel suppliers with a share of 27 percent and the Chinese ones with 12 percent.
The overall TV panel market size is forecast to reach 265 million units this year, up 5 percent from a year earlier. By panel size, the 49-55 inch panel market will likely to grow 27 percent this year, while the 58-65 inch panel market is expected to grow 26 percent. The growth of the less-than-40-inch panel market, however, is forecast to grow marginally by 2 percent.
