Magnacarta 2, developed by SoftMax

There is almost no market existing for video games in Korea, in stark contrast to online games that have been booming for a long time. Nevertheless, there is some surprising news that one of the video games developed in Korea has emerged as a box-office hit.

Magnacarta 2, called the team behind the original Magna Carta: Tears of Blood, developed by SoftMax and powered by the Unreal Engine 3, has sold more than 10,000 copies within 15 days after its release in Korea. In keeping with that, it has also hit the top box-office record in the field of Xbox 360 in Amazon.jpn within a month since its release.

It combines an in-depth storyline with beautiful high-end graphics and uses its unique active turn battle system with real-time game play in order to appeal to the gamers including first-generation gamers. In its story, it introduces the games' intense themes of love, hate, politics, betrayal and the ultimate question of choosing one's own fate and provides more than 40 hours of game play based on traditional RPG formula.

SoftMax has spent almost US$9 million for five years to develop Magnacarta 2, so it is perfect in terms of interesting storyline and exciting play.

"It is masterpiece for me, and I hope it's going to be the one for gamers, too, because I'm sure that Magnacarta 2 gives you a lot of exciting time with emotional moments just like you are reading a masterpiece fantasy novel," a SoftMax executive said.
