The airline industry is releasing a string of easy-to-use services using smartphones. According to industry sources on June 1, domestic airline companies launched smartphone-based air ticket payment and check-in services.
Jin Air introduced a Kakao Pay service to make it easier for its users to buy air tickets on May 26. Kakao Pay is Daum Kakao’s mobile payment service. Once the users register their credit card information onto the Kakao Talk application, they can make payments anytime and anywhere simply by entering the password.
A Jin Air official said, “E-payment services like Kakao Pay have become popularized. To cope with this trend, we decided to introduce our Kakao Pay service as part of an effort to offer more convenience and expand accessibility for our clients.”
Asiana Airlines also plans to introduce its Kakao Pay service. A company official said, “We decided to introduce it and details are under negotiations.”
