Kia Motors announced on June 2 that it released this year’s new version of its compact mini-van Carens which features an improvement in fuel efficiency and wider adoption of customer preferred specs.
The new Carens 1.7-liter diesel model is mounted with a seven-speed dual clutch transmission (DCT), first among Kia’s domestic models. The 2016 version has a compound fuel efficiency of 14.9 kilometers per liter, an improvement compared to the previous model’s 13.2 kilometers per liter, thereby satisfying the euro 6 environment standard.
The number of trims is simplified from existing four to two, while the ISG is available as an option for entire diesel models. If the ISG system is mounted, the fuel efficiency is upgraded into 15.7 kilometers per liter.
The 2.0-liter LPI model has a new trendy trim which is applied with a variety of customer-preferred specs, including a button starter smart key and 17-inch alloy wheels. The retail price of the new Carens (automatic transmission models) ranges from 22.65 million won to 24.25 million won.
