The Korea Communications Commission (Chairman Choi See-Joong) announced that they spoke about the present condition of Korea's broadband network construction and policy direction with the TF team leader of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) of the US. He was on a visit to Korea on September 14, 2009.
Before the conversation, Chairman Choi encouraged them by saying, "The FCC TF team's broadband planning effort, which is passionate, will obtain a big result." The TF team asked advice about priorities and direction in a conversation with the Korean Communication Commission (KCC).
The FCC is eager to learn about Korea's broadband construction policy because the country was in first place last year in the ranking of Internet logistical ratio. This year it has fallen down to second place in March in the ITC Development Index which is reported by the International Telecommunications Union.
A KCC official said, "World-wide, many countries are hoping for technical and policy interchange cooperation with Korea which is a powerful broadcast and communication country. It means the cooperation of both agencies will be strengthened with opportunities from the FCC's broadband planning process."
