AOA reveals their plan about the girl band.
AOA anounced their comeback in 7 months by having a press conference and a show case at Ax Hall located in Gwang-Jin, Seoul on June 22nd after relasing their 3rd mini-album <Heart Attack>.
On this day, AOA did not hid their excitement by saying “We were too busy with our own schedules after ‘Like a Cat’ that we relatively did not have enough time to prepare for the new album. It’s exciting that its ranked #1 on the Korean and the Taiwanese online charts as soon as it was released. We are sure that we can enjoy our stage more.”
Ji Min, the leader, states that the reason for shedding their ‘sexy concept’ and appealing with their healthy yet lovely charm is because “We want to show our cheerful side as summer is approaching. I thought it would be a good idea to show our bright and childish characteristics on the stage as well.”
But there is a question that remains. They debuted as a girl band, an extraordinary case in Korean music scene but AOA has only been releasing dance songs from a certain point. Are we not going to be able to see AOA as a girl band any more
To answer the question of losing their initial characteristic that differentiated them from the other, Cho A explained, “Wewere not trying to immitate a girl band but our goal was to grow as a verstile group that can digest both girl band concept and dance songs. We thought it was more reasonable to continue showing dance songs so that’s why we came back with a summer song.”
She also added that “the memeber are continuously practicing their instruments. With Ji Min rapping, there might be a possibility of unit activity or even a solo album. We are trying out best to show various
On the side note, AOA’s new song ‘Heart Attack’ is a pop-dance song with the lyrics that cleverly and truthfully express the feeling of a woman who fell in love at first sight. It will be interesting to see if AOA can start a new history of girl group with their unprecedented electronic summer song after the three hit songs, ‘Mini Skirt,’ ‘Short Hair,’ and ‘Like a Cat,’ last year.
