POSCO and Ssangyong Motor are taking steps to strengthen their strategic cooperation.
According to POSCO, the two parties signed a memorandum to expand the scope of their partnership at POSCO Center in Seoul’s Gangnam on June 23.
Under the terms of the agreement, POSCO will ensure a stable supply of highly competitive automobile materials for Ssangyong Motor. Ssangyong Motor has used POSCO’s high-strength automobile materials for its Tivoli which it released in January this year.
POSCO has staged aggressive solution marketing since the initial stage of Tivoli development, proposing the type of ideal steel materials for the Tivoli. The compact SUV is enjoying a rising popularity with its monthly sales exceeding 3,000 units.
With Tivoli’s follow-up models such as the Tivoli Diesel and the Tivoli Long Body set to be launched soon, the two parties will leverage the agreement as a move to strengthen their cooperation further. In particular, Ssangyong Motor plans to employ a magnesium speaker which it used for the Korando C model first in Korea for the Tivoli as well as a way to improve the vehicle’s sound speaker quality.
