Fine Digital, a specialist in vehicle navigator and black box manufacturing, is making forays into Japan’s navigation market.
The company plans to sell its latest products through Japan’s three major online shopping malls, consisting of Amazon, Rakuten, and Yahoo. To this end, Fine Digital created a new local brand “FineGPS.”
The size of Japan’s navigator market is estimated at 6 million units per year, about three times larger than Korea’s market. If setting the per-unit retail price at about 500,000 won, the size of the Japanese navigator market is valued about 3 trillion won.
The Japanese navigator market is dominated by local companies such as Panasonic and JVC.
Fine Digital plans to gain a strong foothold in Japan with its latest product (model name iQ7000) which offers real-time traffic information through connection with smartphones.
As part of an effort to establish a clear profile in Japan’s navigator market, Fine Digital joined hands with Japan’s VICS.
