The share of female workers in Samsung Electronics’ overall payrolls is estimated at 42 percent. The ratio remained at 27 percent on average in domestic workplaces and at 49 percent at overseas locations. However, the share of women among Samsung Electronics’ overall executives remains low at only 4.2 percent.
According to Samsung Electronics’ Sustainable Management Report on June 26, the share of female workers in its overall employees has been on an upward trend, rising to 42 percent in 2014 from 40 percent in 2013 and 39 percent in 2012.
By region, Samsung’s work sites in Southeast Asia, Southwest Asia, and Japan have the highest share of female workers at 57.2 percent, followed by that in China with 45.2 percent and the Americas with 36.6 percent, and Korea with 26.9 percent.
The share of female workers in the company’s manager-level and executive-level stood merely at 12.4 percent and 4.2 percent, respectively. The share of women in executive level, however, has been rising from 2.4 percent in 2012 to 3.8 percent in 2013 and 4.2 percent in 2014.
