As of July 6, the compound fuel efficiency of the compact diesel model Peugeot 208 (with an engine displacement of 1.4 liters) estimated at 21.1 kilometers per liter.
Following the Peugeot 208 were the Toyota Prius with 21.9 kilometers, Citroen’s DS3 1.4e-HDi with 20.2 kilometers, the BMW 320d with 19.7 kilometers, and the Mini Copper D with 19.4 kilometers.
Among domestically made models, Hyundai Motor’s Accent 1.6 Diesel (5 door and 4 door) and Kia Motors’ Pride 1.4 Diesel (5 door, 2015 make) jointly ranked No. 8 with a fuel efficiency of 19.0 kilometers.
As for the secret behind Peugeot 208’s superior fuel efficiency, Hanbul Motors, an official importer of Peugeot 208, pointed out the importance of weight lightening. The Peugeot 208 has an aluminum front bumper with the structure of the bottom frame being improved, which led to about a 15 percent improvement in fuel efficiency.
