Korea is positioned at No. 4 in the global smartphone uptake ratio ranking. According to a report titled “Global Mobile Trend for 1H 2015,” released by KT Economic Management Institute on July 8, the United Arab Emirates led the list of smartphone uptake ratio with 90.8 percent as of March 2015.
Following the UAE were Singapore with 87.7 percent, Saudi Arabia with 86.1 percent, and Korea with 83.0 percent. The report noted that the smartphone penetration rate among adults population in 56 countries worldwide averaged at about 60 percent.
Included in the top-ten country list are Sweden with 82.8 percent, Spain with 79.6 percent, Hong Kong with 78.9 percent, Norway with 78.9 percent, Taiwan with 78.3 percent, and Australia with 77.1 percent.
Following them were the Netherlands with 75.7 percent, Israel with 75.5 percent, Ireland with 75 percent, Denmark with 74.3 percent, China with 74 percent, New Zealand with 72.3 percent, Switzerland with 72 percent, Britain with 71.1 percent, Malaysia with 70.8 percent, and the United States with 70.8 percent.
