Samsung Electronics is expected to launch the sales of the Galaxy Note 5 from next month at the earliest, according to industry sources on July 9.
In addition, the company is also likely to release a new version of the Galaxy S6 Edge which would have a larger screen than the current one.
Sources close to the firm said, “If the development process goes as smoothly as planned, it would be possible for Samsung to reveal new products in early or mid-August and start selling them from mid- or late August.”
Samsung Electronics plans to place its strategic focus on phablets in the second half of this year, based on its judgment that consumer preference for phablets is high not only in the world’s largest smartphone market China but in the United States.
The Galaxy Note 5 and the larger screen Galaxy S6 Edge each will have a screen size of 5.7 inches and 5.5 inches. Key factors behind Samsung’s move to launch new products earlier than scheduled include its desire to give a fresh impetus to the sluggish mobile business.
