SK Telecom’s employee turnover rate was 13 times higher than that of its rival KT last year.

According to industry sources on July 14, SK Telecom’s rate at which employees leave stood at 6.23 percent last year, up 0.57 percentage points from a year ago.

The number of employees who left SK Telecom stayed above 200 for the past three years, standing at 242 in 2012, 238 in 2013, and 265 in 2014. SK Telecom attributed the increase in last year’s employee turnover rate to the increase in the resignation of employees in their 20s.

In contrast, KT’s employee turnover rate stood merely at 0.46 percent. Although this figure is up from 0.30 percent in 2012 and 0.32 percent in 2013, it is much low compared to its rival companies.

LG U+’s employee turnover rate has been on a downward trend, falling to 2.2 percent last year from 3.1 percent in 2013 and 4.3 percent in 2012. As of 2014, KT’s overall payrolls numbered 23,235, followed by LG U+ with 7,211 and SK Telecom with 4,254.
